Bevan flays Churchill
Mr. Aneurin Bevan, the labour left winger, declared in Hemel Hampstead ( Hertfordshire ) on May 20 that Mahatma Gandhi "did far more good for mankind than a thousand Winston Churchills." Addressing an election meeting Mr. Bevan spoke of the Labour party Government granting Independence to India and said once Winston Churchill had once described Mahatma Gandhi as a "half naked Fakir." Many other Tory family fortunes in Great Britain were founded on the loot in India and "they are angry because the opportunities for imperialist loot are going."
